Restful Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

How Restful handles sleep data, microphone access, notifications, crash reports, and support requests. The microphone is used only during a night session for which you have turned on the optional sound chart, audio is analysed on your device, and no audio is uploaded.

Restful is a sleep-support app from Curastone CORP that offers calming audio, an optional overnight sound chart recorded with the phone’s microphone (off by default), nap mode, alarms, and a sleep journal.

This page explains how information is collected, used, stored, and protected when you use the Restful app, website, and related services.

If you have questions or would like to request help with your data, contact us at knowhiz.us@gmail.com.

Important points

What matters most

No audio uploaded

Microphone audio is analysed on your device and is never uploaded.

No sale of sleep data

Sleep reports and related app data are not sold to third parties.

Not medical advice

Insights are for personal reference and wellness tracking, not diagnosis or treatment.

Information we may collect

Restful has no accounts and no sign-in. We collect information you provide directly only when you choose to contact us — support requests and the messages you send us.

When you use Restful, we may also collect device information, app usage logs, language and time-zone settings, error reports, and similar technical diagnostics that help us keep the service stable and improve the experience.

There are no optional account, login, or cloud-sync features, so no registration details are collected. Your sleep journal is stored on your device and is never sent to us; like other app data, it is included in your iCloud or computer backups if you use them.

How microphone and sleep data work

The overnight sound chart is off by default. If you turn it on, Restful asks for microphone access when that night’s session starts, then uses your iPhone microphone to measure how loud the room is, one minute at a time, on your device. Those values are used only to chart the night; they are not a medical measurement of sleep. Naps and nights without the chart are not recorded.

Audio is recorded in short pieces, analysed on your device and never uploaded. In versions through 1.0.6, some pieces could remain on the device and in device backups. Since version 1.0.7, the app deletes pieces after analysis and at session end, keeps new pieces outside device backups, and removes earlier local leftovers when opened. It cannot remove copies already in older backups. Sleep reports, journal summaries, trends, and recommendations are intended for personal reference only and are not medical advice.

We do not sell Restful sleep data to third parties, and we do not use that data for third-party advertising services.

How we use information

We use collected information to operate Restful, provide requested features, personalize settings, improve reliability, answer support requests, send important service notices, and understand how the product is being used.

Information may also be used to investigate abuse, prevent fraud, protect users, and comply with legal obligations.

Permissions and device access

Microphone permission is used only for the optional overnight sound chart described above; sounds, naps and alarms work without it.

Notification permission is used to confirm that a sleep or nap session has started, showing the wake-up time you set, to confirm a snooze, and to show a “Time to wake up” alert about a minute after the alarm time if the alarm sound has not been confirmed as playing.

Depending on your device configuration and the feature you use, Restful may access limited device or network information that is reasonably necessary to keep the service working.

Sharing and service providers

We may work with third-party service providers that help us host, secure, analyze, or support the service. Those providers may process limited information on our behalf under their own contractual or policy obligations.

The app automatically sends crash, error and hang reports, and a short record each time the app is opened or returned to after 30 seconds away, to Sentry, a crash-reporting service operated by Functional Software, Inc., which may process them in the United States. The app has no setting to turn this off. Reports can include the device model, operating system version, battery and charging state, app version, recent app events, and a random identifier created when the app is installed. Sentry receives the IP address a report is sent from; whether it stores that address depends on account settings that we have not independently verified here. Reports do not include audio or sleep journal data. We use them only to find and fix problems in the app.

If you choose to share a night summary to WeChat, the summary image is handed to the WeChat app, and WeChat’s own terms apply. The WeChat sharing library, closed-source code from Tencent, is loaded when the app opens, and we have not audited its network behaviour.

This website serves its fonts from the same site as its pages and does not contact Google Fonts to load them. Visiting the website still connects to its hosting service; following an external link connects to that service under its own policies.

This website counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, a service of Cloudflare, Inc. When a page on restful.dowhiz.com loads, a script from static.cloudflareinsights.com reports the page address without its query string, the referring page, your browser type and how long the page took to load. Cloudflare receives the IP address the report comes from, and its Web Analytics reports show visitor countries. Cloudflare states that Web Analytics sets no cookies, uses no other storage in your browser and does not fingerprint visitors. We see only aggregated counts. The website works the same if a content blocker stops this script. The app does not use Cloudflare Web Analytics.

An optional custom-event collector can separately record page categories, broad source categories, sound preview requests and their start or failure, and valid App Store link activations. It uses random event IDs and a random identifier stored only for the current browser tab, with a bounded retry queue in session storage for up to 72 hours. It does not send raw URLs or search terms, audio, sleep journals, email addresses, device fingerprints, or App purchase receipts. Its receiver does not persist IP addresses or user agents; the hosting infrastructure still receives a connection IP. Owner tests, internal QA and local or sandbox events are tagged and excluded from business summaries. Collection failure never blocks sound or navigation. The collector removes events older than 90 days at startup, during collection and through hourly cleanup.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the service, or as part of a legitimate business transfer permitted by law.

Data retention and security

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain records, resolve disputes, or comply with legal requirements.

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Your choices and requests

Where applicable, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on the request.

You can also manage many app permissions directly through your device settings, including microphone and notifications.

You can delete a single night from the journal in the app. Deleting the app removes its local data from the device. Copies already in older device backups can remain.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can also contact your local data protection authority.

Children and policy updates

Restful is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or operational needs. Material updates will be reflected on this page together with a revised effective date.

This affects the custom collector. Browser content blockers can separately block Cloudflare Web Analytics.
